چکیده
Currently, heavy metal-contaminated groundwater is an environmental concern. This study investigated the use of bamboo biochar, chitosan-impregnated and iron-impregnated biochar for arsenic, iron, manganese removal from groundwater. Isotherms adsorption by derived were compared with those commercial activated carbon in simulated composed single trinary metal solutions. The binding metals virgin loaded was also sequential extraction. Chitosan had enhanced arsenic adsorption, but these sorbents turned pH solution acidic, while it alkaline carbon. Adsorption equilibrium times iron faster than systems because less ion competition occurred at active sites. Langmuir model fitted data well. maximum capacities system 2.2568, 0.6393, 1.3541 mg g−1, respectively. main mechanism precipitation iron. Bamboo bound organic sulfide fractions iron-oxide. can replace as a more efficient sustainable carbonaceous sorbent material mixed within acceptable ranges.

A Comparative Study of the Adsorption of Methylene Blue onto Synthesized Nanoscale Zero-Valent Iron-Bamboo and Manganese-Bamboo Composites
In this study, bamboo impregnated with nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) and nanoscale manganese (nMn) were prepared by the aqueous phase borohydride reduction method and characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and PIXE analysis. The synthesized nMn-bamboo and nZVI-bamboo composites were subsequently applied to the sorption of methy...
متن کاملRemoval of heavy metals from aqueous solution by biochars derived from anaerobically digested biomass.
This study examined the ability of two biochars converted from anaerobically digested biomass to sorb heavy metals using a range of laboratory sorption and characterization experiments. Initial evaluation of DAWC (digested dairy waste biochar) and DWSBC (digested whole sugar beet biochar) showed that both biochars were effective in removing a mixture of four heavy metals (Pb(2 +), Cu(2+), Ni(2+...

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of manufacturing conditions on the adsorption capacity of heavy metal ions by Makino bamboo charcoal. Results show that the specific surface area and iodine number of bamboo charcoal activated at 900 degrees C were larger than those of bamboo charcoal activated at 800 degrees C. The specific surface area of bamboo charcoal activated at ...

Arsenic (As) contamination in the groundwater of Bangladesh is one of the major public health concerns. It has become a challenge to remove As from groundwater and a great deal of efforts employed in this regards with limited success. Cerium oxide is one of the important medias of arsenic removal techniques. Nine units of cerium-based arsenic technology were tested with seven different well wat...
